Bei der vorliegenden Publikation handelt es sich um eine leicht überarbeitete Fassung meiner 2018 an der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz eingereichten Dissertation "Soziale Positionierungen: Zur Funktion von Vornamen beim Namenwechsel transgeschlechtlicher Personen". Möglich wurde sie durch meine Doktormutter Damaris Nübling, der ich für die vielzähligen Diskussionen, die schier unendliche Motivation und Unterstützungsbereitschaft mindestens ebenso unendlich dankbar bin. Mein Dank gilt außerdem der Mainzer Forschungsgruppe "Un/Doing Differences: Praktiken der Humandifferenzierung", die meinen disziplinären und theoretischen Horizont ungemein erweitert und mit Diskussionen und Anregungen viel zum Entstehen dieser Arbeit beigetragen hat.
