Mutual coupling compensation for a practical VHF/UHF Yagi‐Uda antenna array

Abstract: The performance of an antenna array is considerably affected by mutual coupling effects between antenna elements. When a large number of antenna elements are located close to each other, mutual coupling becomes more significant. In this study, by using a new mutual impedance matrix, a decoupling methodology for compensating mutual coupling effects in a practical very high frequency (VHF)/ultra high frequency (UHF) Yagi-Uda antenna array is introduced. No previous publications have studied VHF/UHF Yagi-Uda ante… Show more

“…With rapid development of military technology, radars are required for better target identification, stronger antijamming ability, and more reliable stability, which lead to high demand for the performance of antenna. However, complex operating environment causes structural deformation and introduces serious degradation to the property of antennas [4][5][6]. For example, the space-based array antennas are subjected to long term of sunshine and low-temperature heat sink in space when working at near earth orbit.…”

“…There are plenty of papers talking about mutual coupling effects from different points of view [17]. For example, many mutual coupling correction techniques have been presented in different applications such as direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation [18][19][20][21][22], adaptive beamforming [23][24][25], antenna array manifold repairment [21,22,26] and static array pattern synthesis [7,12,[27][28][29][30][31]. Due to the significance of the mutual coupling, incorporating the mutual coupling into the pattern synthesis should be very useful.…”
