Styrene Toxicity: An Ecotoxicological Assessment

“…The primary metabolite, styrene 7,8-oxide has also been studied in various bacterial tests for mutagenicity. This metabolite was mutagenic to Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae (de Meester et al, 1977). It was also clearly mutagenic to Salmonella commonly used as an evaluation for toxicity in the Ames test.…”
