Multivariate optimization of surfactant‐assisted directly suspended droplet microextraction combined with GC for the preconcentration and determination of tramadol in biological samples

Abstract: In this work, a novel procedure based on surfactant-assisted directly suspended droplet microextraction for the determination of tramadol prior to GC with flame ionization detection is proposed. In this technique, a free microdroplet of solvent is transferred to the surface of an immiscible aqueous sample containing Triton X-100 and tramadol while being agitated by a stirring bar placed on the bottom of the sample vial. After the predetermined time, the microdroplet of solvent is withdrawn by a syringe and ana… Show more

“…Tramadol, (1R,2R)‐2‐[(dimethyl amino)methyl]‐1‐(3‐methoxyphenyl) cyclohexanol, is a synthetic monoamine neurotransmitter with selective activity at the μ‐opioid receptors (Supporting Information Figure S1a). This substance is utilized typically as an opioid pain medication in the treatment of mild pain . It performs by blocking the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin which contributes to the drug's analgesic effect .…”

“…Desirability value was used as the response and based on this value the optimum sorption conditions were evaluated. Based on N = 2 f +2 f + C 0 , in which f is the number of factors and C 0 is the number of center point; f and C 0 were adjusted to 4 and 6, respectively, which means that 30 tests should be carried out . The obtained experimental data exhibited a good agreement with the quadratic polynomial model.…”

“…The analytical data, such as preconcentration factors (PFs), linear dynamic ranges (LDRs), regression equations, correlation coefficients ( r 2 ), the LODs, and extraction recoveries (ER%) were obtained. The preconcentration factor and extraction recovery (ER%) were calculated based on the following equations : PF =cfci ER %=cf×vfci×Vvi= PF ×VfVi…”
