Background: Simulation constitutes a teaching method and a strategy for learning and understanding theoretical knowledge and skills in the nursing and medical field. Objective: To review and present modern data related to this issue. Methods: Literature review of data related to the issue derived from Medline, Cinhal, and Scopus databases, in English, using the following keywords: nursing, simulation, simulator, nursing laboratory. Results: The implementation of simulation enables students to practice their clinical and decision-making skills for some significant issues they may face in their daily work. The protected environment and the sense of security enhance students’ self-esteem and confidence, thus promoting learning. In this way, the gap between theory and practice is substantially reduced. Conclusion: The further development of simulation, along with other instructional techniques, can significantly help the efforts made by the students to become integrated and successful healthcare professionals.

Simulation-based learning (SBL) is becoming an accepted part of health education. Providing high-quality simulation-based education depends more on skilled facilitators than on elaborate simulator equipment. In the last six years, a cross-professional facilitator course has been developed to train interprofessional staff and faculty from health educational institutions in Bergen. The course starts with two days of traditional simulation theory and practice followed by a third day five weeks later. During the third day, participants present their own experiences from practising as facilitators in their own workplaces. In this paper, we present the course content and the participants' evaluation of the course based on the qualitative content analysis of their answers to openended questions. The main findings were that the course format and primary focus on practice were appreciated and that the follow-up day was especially useful to broaden the learning experience.

Introduction.Covid-19 pandemic has necessitated changes in practical training of nursing students. Classes previously conducted in a hospital environment were moved to a medical simulation center.Aim.The purpose of the study was to discover opinions of undergraduate nursing students on practical training using the medical simulation method.Material and methods.A total of 317 undergraduate nursing students participated in the survey. The research tool was authors’ own diagnostic survey. Participation in the study was anonymous and voluntary. It was conducted between April and May 2022. All correlations were assumed to be statistically significant when p≤0.05.Results.When it comes to 76.7% of respondents, they claimed that medical simulation classes developed their soft skills and 89.3% of respondents believe that participation in medical simulations facilitated their ability to perform patient care tasks during practical classes. Higher sense of self-efficacy is correlated with higher evaluation of the classes.Conclusions.Through the classes at the medical simulation center, a completely new environment was created to support the practical learning of nursing students. Results of the study highlight positive effects of learning that solidify students’ knowledge and improve their skills.
