Learning motivation is one of the important things that can affect the student's learning process. This study aims to explore the phenomenon of learning motivation of elementary school students. This research is quantitative research using survey exploratory research. Subjects involved in this study amounted to 51 elementary school students. Data collection uses a questionnaire as a data collection instrument. The questionnaire was compiled based on four components of learning motivation, namely the drive for achievement, discipline in learning, readiness to overcome difficulties, and curiosity. The questionnaire uses a Likert scale with the categories "always", "often", "sometimes", and "never". The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that in general, the students had high motivation. However, this high motivation is not in line with concrete actions that show their enthusiasm for learning. This is because the motivation that develops is extrinsic. Students learn to get rewarded or to avoid punishment from teachers. Nevertheless, the students are aware of their obligations as students and believe in their abilities. This can be used as initial capital to encourage students to improve their learning achievement.

This study aims to see whether students' learning motivation, student learning discipline and teacher's teaching methods influence directly or indirectly on the mathematical reasoning abilities of junior high school students. This type of research is quantitative research. The population of this study were students of class VII SMP Negeri 4 Masbagik, which consisted of 3 classes, while the sample was randomly selected using simple random sampling technique and class VII B was selected as the sample. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire to see students' learning motivation, student learning discipline and students' perceptions of the teacher's teaching methods which consisted of 15 item statements and a test was used to see mathematical reasoning abilities which consisted of 5 questions in the form of essay questions. Data is analyzed using path analysis. The results showed that the direct effect of motivation on discipline and the direct effect of discipline on mathematical reasoning was not significant because the p-value was greater than 0.05, while the direct effect of teaching methods on learning discipline, teaching methods on mathematical reasoning and learning motivation on mathematical reasoning is significant because the p-value is less than 0.05. Indirectly learning discipline cannot mediate the relationship between learning motivation on mathematical reasoning and teaching methods on mathematical reasoning because the p-value is greater than 0.05. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat apakah motivasi belajar siswa, disiplin belajar siswa dan metode mengajar guru berpengaruh secara langsung maupun tidak langsung terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematika siswa SMP. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 4 Masbagik yang berjumlah 3 kelas, sedangkan sampel dipilih secara acak dengan teknik simpel random sampling dan terpilih kelas VII B sebagai sampel. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa angket untuk melihat motivasi belajar siswa, disiplin belajar siswa dan persepsi siswa terhadap metode mengajar guru yang terdiri dari 15 item pernyataan dan tes digunakan untuk melihat kemampuan penalaran matematika yang terdiri dari 5 soal dalam bentuk soal uraian. Data di analisis dengan menggunakan analisis jalur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh langsung antara motivasi terhadap disiplin dan pengaruh langsung disiplin terhadap penalaran matematika tidak signifikan karena harga p-value lebih besar dari 0,05, sedangkan pengaruh langsung dari metode mengajar terhadap disiplin belajar, metode mengajar terhadap penalaran matematika dan motivasi belajar terhadap penalaran matematika signifikan karena harga p-value lebih kecil dari 0,05. Secara tidak langsung disiplin belajar tidak dapat memediasi hubungan antara motivasi belajar terhadap penalaran matematika dan metode mengajar terhadap penalaran matematika karena nilai p-value lebih besar dari 0,05.

This study aims to determine the factors that cause learning difficulties in mathematics experienced by fourth-grade elementary school students. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The data sources in this study were fourth-grade teachers and all fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 09 Maredan which consisted of 24 students. Data collection techniques in this study were observation, interviews, and documentation with 3 stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The data analysis technique used the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that the factors causing student difficulties can be seen from two factors, namely internal factors, and external factors. Internal factors are student interest and enthusiasm in learning, student readiness in the learning process, student intelligence, student body, and mental condition, study habits, student interest in mathematics. While the external factors of students' difficulties in mathematics lessons in grade IV elementary school are: environmental conditions of students, parents' attention to the learning process, relationships with parents and those around them, relationships with teachers and friends at school, media and teaching materials as supporting tools in the school. class during the learning process, the condition of the classroom and school environment, the difficulty of the material in the content of mathematics lessons. The teacher's efforts to overcome the learning difficulties of fourth-grade elementary school students are increasing students' lack of interest and enthusiasm for learning, providing special guidance to students, adding media and teaching materials as supporting tools in the classroom.
