“…In addition, GbE raised adiponectin levels of OVX animals, what may have been a consequence of the lower adiposity, since this adipokine secretion is inversely proportional to body fat 11 . Corroborating the present findings, it has been reported that supplementation with Morus alba extract, an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant herbal medicine, to female rats fed a high-cholesterol diet, reduced body adiposity, up-regulated adiponectin gene expression, down-regulated leptin and resistin gene expressions, and improved insulin sensitivity in the visceral adipose tissue 42 .…”

“…In agreement with the present findings, the hypercholesterolemia and hyperleptinemia of obese female rats have been shown to be positively associated with mood and anxiety symptoms. Interestingly, this study also reported a reduction of depressiveand anxious-like behaviours by the oral supplementation with Morus alba extract 42 .…”

“…Morus alba leaves ethanol extract markedly decreased body weight gain, and diminished the elevated cholesterol, triglycerides, atherogenic index and coronary artery indices, it also decreased insulin resistance and glucose level in hyperlidemic rats induced by high-cholesterol diet (HCD). The serum leptin and resist in and their mRNA expression in visceral adipose tissue were significantly decreased by the extract, while, it increased serum adiponectin, and its expression significantly in visceral adipose tissue in hyperlipidemic rats (27) .…”

“…For example, Abd El Aal et al (2017) have demonstrated that carvacrol significantly decreases total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, leptin, and increases HDL and adiponectin. Metwally et al (2019) have reported that reduction of visceral adiposity and serum leptin and resistin levels, increase in serum adiponectin levels, and reduction in serum total cholesterol, triglyceride, insulin and glucose levels are determined in M. alba leaf extract treated hypercholesterolemic rats for 8 weeks. Resveratrol has an increasing activity of adiponectin and decreasing activity of leptin and insulin in hypercholesterolemic rabbits and has a therapeutic potential for lipidlowering effect (Jimoh et al, 2018).…”
