Morpho-functional response of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) to a homeopathic complex

Abstract: The addition of Homeopatila 100(®) at a concentration 40 mL per kg/meal to the diet of juvenile Nile tilapias resulted in improved hepatocytes and intracellular glycogen levels as well as the lowest mean rate of branchial histological changes with an increase in acidic mucin-producing cells compared to neutral mucin-producing cells, compared to control.

“…For females, a higher number of these cells were verified, mainly with diets containing 20 and 40 mL per kg of this product in the diet. These results corroborate with Braccini et al (2013), where a higher number of hepatocytes was verified in the liver of Nile tilapia fed Homeopatila 100 ® (40 mL kg -1 ) compared to the control group. Although the animals evaluated have not been subjected to a stress condition, the highest number of hepatocytes verified with the inclusion of the homeopathic complex is important.…”

“…The percentage of glycogen present in hepatocytes was lower in females fed without Homeopatila 100 ® . The largest amount of this reserve substance in the treatment containing 40 mL of the homeopathic complex per kg of feed was also verified for Nile tilapia (Braccini et al, 2013). Nevertheless, the percentage of glycogen present inside zebrafish hepatocytes was higher than that observed in Nile tilapia.…”

“…Several studies have been undertaken with Nile tilapia and Homeopatila 100 ® (Siena et al, 2010;Braccini et al, 2013;Merlini et al, 2014). Because there are few reports on the products prepared from tilapia fillets and MSM treated with homeopathy, the current investigation provides the physical, chemical, microbiological and sensory evaluation of nuggets from MSM of Nile tilapia prepared with Homeopatila 100 ® .…”

“…The Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is a species which is most commonly used in net-tanks, owing to such positive traits as genetic plasticity, rusticity, early development, short generation, facility for adaptation to adverse conditions, high quality flesh, resistance to stress and various types of pollutants (EL-SAYED, 2006;BRACCINI et al, 2013). The tilapia has good feed conversion coupled to reproduction facility in confinement.…”
