The present study examined the affect of task and ego orientation on athletic identity and anti social behavior of students and athletes. A total of 156 students (86 males and 70 females with a mean age of 16,5 years) and 150 athletes (90 males and 60 females with a mean age of 18,5 years) participated at the study. The study was conducted from December 2012 to February 2013 during a basketball school tournament at the premises of Anatolia College for students and during local championships for athletes. TEOSQ (The Task and Ego Orientation in Sport Questionnaire) by Nicholls (1989) was used for the assessment of goals, the A.I.M.S. (Athletic Identity Measurement Scale) by Brewer et al,(1993 ) for athletic identity and the questionnaire by M.Kavussanu (pro-social and antisocial behavior 2006) was used for antisocial behaviour. All questionnaires have been previously used for similar studies in Greece. Results showed that task and ego orientation as well as identity affect antisocial behavior. Differences among athletes and students were observed only on athletic identity, while regarding the two sexes boys showed higher scores on antisocial behavior and aggression in relation to girls.

This study investigated to what extent team membership predicts on-and offfield antisocial and prosocial behavior in (pre)adolescent athletes. Effects of team-membership were related to characteristics of the team environment, such as relational support from the coach towards team members, fair play attitude and sociomoral reasoning within the team, and sociomoral climate. The sample consisted of N=331 male soccer players. Multilevel analyses revealed that 21% of the variance in off-field antisocial behavior, and 8% and 14% of the variance in on-field antisocial and prosocial behavior, respectively, could be attributed to characteristics of the sporting environment, including relational support from the coach, exposure to high levels of sociomoral reasoning about sports dilemmas, and positive team attitude toward fair play. The results highlight the importance of contextual factors in explaining both antisocial and prosocial behavior in adolescent athletes and emphasize the role of organized youth sports as a socialization context.

RESUMOO objetivo deste estudo foi analisar a relação entre motivação autodeterminada, orientação da prática esportiva e agressão atlética em atletas de voleibol. Participaram do estudo 54 atletas entre adultos e juvenis de ambos os gêneros. Como instrumentos de medida foram utilizados a Escala de Motivação Esportiva (1995), a Escala de Orientação da Esportividade Multidimensional (1997) e o Inventário de Agressão Atlética de Bredemeier (1985). A coleta de dados foi realizada nos locais de treinamento, e para sua análise utilizou-se o teste Mann-Whitney, a correlação de Spearman e o coeficiente Alfa de Cronbach. Concluiu-se que a motivação autodeterminada intrinsecamente se constituiu como fator favorável para atitudes positivas voltadas às convenções esportivas, regras e juízes, influenciando na preocupação e comprometimento com o oponente e na tendência a comportar-se agressivamente. Essa importância é refletida nas diferentes pesquisas que procuram identificar as influências da motivação em diferentes aspectos, como na utilização de substâncias que aumentam o desempenho (DONAHUE et al., 2006), desempenho esportivo de atletas de elite (CHANTAL; GUAY; MARTINOVA, 1996), julgamento sobre comportamentos agressivos (STEPHENS; BREDEMEIER, 1996), relacionamento interpessoal (BENGOECHEA; STREAN, 2007), aderência ao exercício e bem-estar em obesos (EDMUNDS; NTOUMANIS; DUDA, 2007).No contexto da Psicologia do Esporte diferentes teorias dão suporte ao estudo da motivação, por exemplo, a teoria da atribuição (WEINER, 1985), a teoria das metas de realização (DUDA, 1993), a teoria da motivação através da percepção da competência (HARTER, 1988) e a teoria da Autodeterminação de Deci e Ryan (1985).Com relação à teoria da autodeterminação, o comportamento é regulado por três necessidades psicológicas, que atuam de forma interdependente: competência, autonomia e relacionamento. Especificamente, a competência refere-se à capacidade do indivíduo de interagir de maneira eficaz com o seu ambiente enquanto realiza tarefas desafiadoras; autonomia concerne ao nível de independência e controle das escolhas percebidas pelo indivíduo; e relacionamento está ligado a quanto alguém percebe um senso de conectividade com outras pessoas do ambiente (MILNE; WALLMAN;GUILFOYLE, 2008 pouca motivação para a ação (amotivação); uma motivação referente à realização da atividade para satisfação de demandas externas, por culpa ou vergonha (motivação extrínseca de regulação externa); uma motivação baseada na participação em atividades pelo sentimento de obrigação, coerção e fuga de sensações negativas (motivação extrínseca de introjeção); ou ainda uma motivação oriunda de uma atividade que em si não dá prazer, mas na qual o indivíduo se identifica com o resultado e este é valorizado (motivação extrínseca de identif...
