“…It seems that both methods of calculating time control are based on monitoring of codling moth biology getting therefore equal results. The different number of fruit damages between varieties within the same treatment gives the conclusion of bigger or less attraction of codling moth caterpilar for certain variety The similar conclusion was made according to other authors (Hussain et al, 2014;enninger and Landolt, 2011;Landolt and Gu dot, 2008). Biological control can be effective, economical and safe and it should be more widely used than it is today (Mahret al, 2008).…”

“…The central sector plan scheme called Crop Estimation Survey of Fruits and Vegetables (CES-F&V) should be implemented in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh like other states, to benefit the farming community. Around 25 fruits are cultivated in J&K and the Plant protection advisory has been made available for few major fruit crops viz; apple, pear, cherry, and walnut against various insect pests and diseases for their management, developed by the Department of Horticulture, J&K. Monitoring and setting the biofix for various pests/diseases are not being practiced annually based on degree-day models using spore and pheromone traps ( Hussain et al., 2015 ). They are unable to predict the population of boring insects (Stem/fruit borers) and diseases on apples in advance.…”

“…Also because of these pests, some quarantine regulations have been enforced for fresh fruit export outside the region. This perhaps has perplexed the orchardists of the region as the populace is reluctant in using pesticides to control the pests due to some religious ethics, though some new pest c measures like use of Matting disrupting pheromone dispensers have been tried successfully keeping the religious sentiments into consideration [12]. With this, traditional low yielding cultivars on seedling root stock, augment the concern and thus reduce the sustainability and profitability of its cultivation in the region.…”
