Molecular characterization of differentTriticum monococcumssp.monococcum Glu-A1mxalleles

Abstract: High-molecular-weight glutenin subunits (HMW-GSs) are important seed storage proteins associated with bread-making quality in common wheat (Triticum aestivum L., 2n = 6x = 42, AABBDD). Variation in the Glu-A1x locus in common wheat is scare. Diploid Triticum monococcum ssp. monococcum (2n = 2x = 14, A m A m ) is the first cultivated wheat. In the present study, allelic variations at the Glu-A1 m x locus were systematically investigated in 197 T. monococcum ssp. monococcum accessions. Out of the 8 detected Glu-… Show more

“…monococcum accessions expressed two HMW glutenin subunits (Figure 5). Based on earlier research, the Glu‐A1 m x subunits were 1Ax2.1 b for PI 418582 and 1Ax2.1 d for PI 573524 (Li et al, 2016, 2018). Only two subunits were expressed in the tetraploid PI 119442 and were also expressed in the T .…”

“…monococcum) landraces were found, and among them Glu-A1x2*+Glu-A1y1 had the highest frequency of approximately 31% (Şan et al, 2015). Li et al (2016) detected eight Glu-A1x alleles in the cultivated diploid wheat, and five from them were novel alleles. We succeeded to transfer the same A1x2*+A1y1 subunit pair from T. boeoticum into four durum wheat progenies through the amphiploid SHW8A-Tb.…”

“…Researchers found three allelic variants (alleles a, b and c) [11], and seven subunits, three for Glu-A1x, and four for Glu-A1y [12]. A wider variation for the Glu-A1x was detected [13][14][15]. The spectrum of A1y-subunits was extended by 1Ay8* and 1Ay12* [16] and 1Ay8.2 and 1Ay8.3 [17,18].…”
