A new family of low-voltage log-domain differentiator topologies is introduced in this manuscript. Their attractive characteristic, in comparison to the already published structures, is that the minimum supply voltage requirement is equal to a base-emitter voltage plus twice the saturation voltage of MOS transistors operated in strong inversion, giving potential for employment in modern low-voltage environments. The realization of the corresponding transfer function is achieved by introducing a set of complementary operators which allow the realization of low-voltage active building blocks in the logdomain. Both linear and non-linear performances of the introduced configurations have been studied through simulation results.

Log-domain filters with maximized dynamic range are presented in this paper. This is achieved by employing enhanced lossless and lossy integrator blocks, where independent scaling of their input weight factors is performed. It should be mentioned at this point that the maximization of the dynamic range is achieved without losing the benefit of log-domain filters for electronically adjusting their frequency characteristics. The validation of the operation of the proposed blocks has been performed through simulation results in the case of a 3f d -order leapfrog filter.

A new log-domain building block for log-domain filter design is proposed in this paper. This block realizes a positive impedance inverter (gyrator) by using the log-domain wave method. A simple procedure for log-domain filter development, using the proposed block, is outlined. This method results in circuits, which are simple in structure and very easy to design. An example of a second-order bandpass filter is given and its functionality is verified through simulations.
