Modelling Freshwater Availability Using SWAT Model at a Catchment-Scale in Ivory Coast

Abstract: Sustainable management of Ivory Coast's freshwater reserve at a catchment scale is an essential way in the policies of land use sustainable management. Thus, the implementation of physical conceptual semi-distributed SWAT model required a good knowledge of the watershed and a large number of physic-chemical data available that have been prior adapted to Ivory Coast's climatic and soil conditions. The whole simulation span was divided into calibration set (1982)(1983)(1984)(1985)(1986) and validation set (1987)… Show more

“…The Kossou lake formed after building the dam in 1971. The lake has a length, area, and an estimated volume of 150 km, 1855 km 2 and 28.8 × 109 m 3 , respectively, at full capacity [33,34]. The Taboo lake is 120 km downstream of the Kossou Dam, formed later in 1975 after the construction of the dam (Figure 1).…”

“…The Taboo lake is 120 km downstream of the Kossou Dam, formed later in 1975 after the construction of the dam (Figure 1). The area and stock volume of the Taabo Lake are about 69 km 2 and stocks and 630 × 106 m 3 , respectively [33][34][35]. The Taabo Dam catchment area is about 59,506.66 km 2 , in which 2975.33 km 2 (about 0.05%) is located in Mali.…”

“…The main methods are based on the principle of water balance [16], although there are no widely used evaluation models. Regional-scale assessment of soil water resources can use hydrological models, especially distributed models, to simulate the spatial and temporal distribution, which can be combined with the estimation of surface water resources and groundwater resources to evaluate the total water resource [17].…”
