Modeling of photovoltaic power generation and electric vehicles charging on city-scale: A review

Abstract: Photovoltaics (PV) and electric vehicles (EVs) are promising technologies for increasing energy efficiency and the share of renewable energy sources in power and transport systems. As regards the deployment, use and system integration of these technologies, spatio-temporal modeling of PV power production and EV charging is of importance for several purposes such as urban planning and power grid design and operation. There is an abundance of studies and reviews on modeling of PV power production and EV charging… Show more

“…Xu et al [13] combined multiple data sources (mobile phone activity, charging sessions, and electric vehicle surveys) to understand the charging demand in residential regions which can be used to decide the size of charging stations. Some researchers [14] focused on integrating renewable energy sources into transport systems and EVCS. In [15], the charging demand and renewable energy generation were modeled and a genetic algorithm to maximize the profit measured by its net present value (NPV).…”

“…They could be used as micro sources (V2G) to release electric energy. They could also be used as a load (charging), which is inserted into the grid to store electricity [28][29][30]. In fact, energy routers need to ensure the normal operation and quality of the power grid, but it is also important to ensure the reasonable flow of distributed energy, meet the load demand and control the correct and safe energy flow intelligently.…”

“…Several papers have also reviewed the different aspects of the interaction of EV-PV system and distribution network in the literature. References [11][12][13][14] discuss charging EVs using PV generation with a focus on control architectures and algorithms, and economic framework. The impact of the charging infrastructure of EV on the grid in terms of power quality is reviewed in Reference [15].…”
