Modeling and Simulation of Solar Dish-Stirling Systems

Abstract: A Solar Dish-Stirling System Model is developed for design, optimization, control, and systems development of Dish-Stirling systems. It models the energy transfer in parabolic concentrator and receiver, cycle thermodynamics, heat flow, mechanical dynamics in Stirling engine and the Starter/Generator. The model's scope extends from the solar energy to thermal, mechanical, and electrical energy out, helping to study complex system interactions among subsystems. It is a non-linear time-domain model, which can be … Show more

“…Concentrated solar power (CSP) technology is one of the way to generate electricity by producing heat when sunlight focuses on a receiver [6,[12][13]. This technology uses optical component either mirrors or lenses or any reflective type material to concentrate a large area of sunlight into a small beam to heat up the receiver for steam converted to electricity [7][8][9]. There are three common methods to concentrate the sunlight, i.e.…”

“…The modes of these drives are single axis and dual axis including temperature, solar irradiation and installed system area factors. The active drive type tracking system is much adopted drive compared to passive drive with single axis, vertical single axis and azimuth dual axis tracking Modes [6][7][8]. Europe, US, India and China are using tracking system to enhance the efficiency of solar thermal power technology.…”

“…Unfortunately, most of the research focuses on each component individually. Indeed, limited studies [12][13][14][15][16][17][18] have addressed the whole system and the interactions between its components. Yaqi et al, [12] developed a general analytical model for the maximum output power and its corresponding thermal efficiency.…”

“…Ahmadi et al, [13] extended the work of Yaqi et al, [12], towards simultaneous maximization of the thermal efficiency and the output power by employing multi-objective evolutionary algorithms. Mingzhen and Jinzhong [14] developed a non-linear time-domain model to simulate a commercial SDS System. They covered the entire range of system operation, from start-up to full power conditions.…”
