Show more

“…These problems are due to factors related to soil-climatic conditions and soil fertility management (Guo et al, 2016). In general, Brazilian soils are naturally acidic and have a high retention capacity of P (Lopes; Guilherme, 2016) and a low natural availability of Mg (Melo et al, 2004;.…”

“…This can be explained by the higher presence of mica observed in the samples from the latter. According to Unamba-Oparah (1985), cited by Melo et al (2004), the greater K amount in the sediments from the C horizon may be related to the yet unweathered minerals. For P, sediments tended to have lower contents than in the surrounding areas and within the recovered gully.…”

“…In Brazil, highly weathered soils have a low amount of ionic magnesium, between 0.03% and 0.84% (Kirkby & Mengel, 1976), which is mainly linked to the kaolinite mineral (Melo et al, 2004), with considerable variation in the doses of recommendation of the nutrient. The use of Mg 2+ nanofertilizers may be an alternative for supplying the nutrient to plants, mainly as a replacement strategy for soils that were not limed, or were corrected with calcitic limestone, or alternative sources of correction, which do not contain the element in their composition.…”
