Abstract:Agricultural development requires an active role from an outreach agency that is responsible for facilitating the adoption of agricultural technology innovations by farmers. To realize the development of agriculture it is necessary cooperation between the implementing agencies of agricultural development that are able to interact directly with the farmer well and understand the obstacles that are facing farmers and able to provide a coaching to solve the problem. From the results of the identification done in … Show more

The objective of this study is to determine the impact of agricultural extension workers on technology adoption and production factors in enhancing wet-rice farming in Lamoeri Village, Angata Subdistrict, South Konawe Regency. The study population consists of 180 registered rice paddy farmers who are members of 10 farmer groups affiliated with the Agricultural Extension Center (BPP). The study sample consisted of 36 individuals, which represents 20% of the population. The sampling method used was simple random sampling. Data was collected through interviews and documentation using questionnaires as instruments. The data was analyzed quantitatively using the class interval formula. The study found that agricultural extension officers in Lamoeri Village played a positive role in assisting rice paddy farmers. Their roles included facilitating, communicating, motivating, and consulting. The study also revealed that the adoption of innovations in rice paddy cultivation technology was generally successful. Extension workers have optimally carried out the stages of adoption of interest, evaluation, trial, and adoption. However, their role in the awareness stage needs improvement. The production process of paddy rice farming is influenced by natural factors, labor, facilities and infrastructure, and expertise factors. Therefore, it is crucial to always consider and prioritize these factors in order to increase farm productivity.

“…Hal ini sejalan dengan temuan Agustini et al (2013), bahwa umur memengaruhi peningkatan persepsi petani pada rekomendasi teknologi budi daya padi. Hulyatussyamsiah et al (2019) menegaskan bahwa pendidikan petani berpengaruh nyata pada adopsi pemupukan-berimbang. Semakin tinggi tingkat pendidikan formal dan pengalaman bertani, semakin tinggi peluang petani mengadopsi teknologi pemupukan-berimbang.…”

Climate change affects the agricultural sector, which has an impact on droughts or floods. Ecological agriculture is expected to be an adaptation method for reducing losses due to climate change. This study aims to describe the characteristics of farmers, ecological rice cultivation practices, and the relationship between the two parameters. The research in Kendayakan Village, Terisi District, Indramayu Regency, involved 60 farmers surveyed using accidental sampling techniques in February 2022. The data collected include farmer characteristics (age, education, land area, land ownership status), length of farming, sources of farming knowledge, participation in groups, and rice cultivation practices. Data on the application level of ecological agricultural practices were analyzed descriptively and tested usin the Spearman Rank correlation between farmer characteristic variables and rice cultivation practices. The results showed that farmers were of productive age, with a low level of formal education but experienced and active in local organizations. The level of application of farmers' ecological agriculture is moderate. The return of straw, tillage, and control of plant pests are the components of cultivation that are least following the principles of ecological agriculture. Internal factors of farmers that correlate with the components of ecological rice cultivation are age, education, length of farming, source of farming knowledge, and land ownership status.

Chlorpyrifos is widely used by farmers as a contact poison to control leaf and fruit pests in red chilies. Chlorpyrifos is very toxic to the environment and to living things, although it is easily degraded and has a short half-life. Remediation materials in the form of activated charcoal, biochar, and microbial consortium are effective remediation technologies to reduce insecticide residues. Each compound has different characteristics based on the type and texture of the soil. Research with the aim of determining the ability of remediation agents in reducing chlorpyrifos insecticide residues was carried out in the screen house of the Agricultural Environment Research Institute between May-November 2017. The results showed that the effectiveness of reducing chlorpyrifos residue in the soil was different according to its texture. Application of 2 l / ha of consortium microbes was effective in lowered chlorpyrifos residue in lightweight-texture soils, while biochar-coated urea was effective in reducing chlorpyrifos residues in weight-textured soils. Urea coated with activated charcoal showed relatively stable red chilli yields in the two types of soil textures.
