Microstructural and Mössbauer Spectroscopy Studies ofMg1-x ZnxFe2

Abstract: Zinc substituted magnesium ferriteMg1-xZnxFe2O4(x=0.5,0.7)powders have been prepared by a sol-gel autocombustion method. XRD patterns show that the specimens withx=0.5and 0.7 exhibit single-phase spinel structure, and more content of Zn in specimens is favorable for the synthesis of pure Mg-Zn ferrites. Room temperature Mössbauer spectra ofMg1-xZnxFe2O4annealed at 800°C display transition from ferrimagnetic behavior to super paramagnetic behavior with increase in zinc concentration. The Mössbauer spectras of M… Show more

“…From our earlier research [32], the average particle size of CoFe 2 O 4 ( x = 0) is between 85.3 and 102.4 nm, and with increasing Zn content the particle size increases [23,33,34]. The sample’s magneto-crystalline anisotropy decreases with increasing Zn 2+ ions substituted for Co 2+ ions, with subsequent decreases in the coercivity [35,36]. Kamali et al synthesized NiFe 2-x Al x O 4 ferrites and observed the complicated cation distributions in this ferrite system as a function of x .…”

“…So replacing Mg 2+ ions with the Zn 2+ ions will not have much effect on the magnetic anisotropy constant. The reduction in magnetic coercivity is related to the grain size [28][29][30]. display that the A Mössbauer absorption area decreases and the B Mössbauer absorption area increases with increasing zinc concentration.…”

“…8 and Table 3 indicates that magnetization increases with increasing Sr 2+ ion concentration. This may be due to the fact that increase in concentration may cause the Sr 2+ ions to replace La 3+ ions [33,34]. In such condition, Fe 4+ ions are formed to balance the overall electrical charge of the particles, which in turn enhances the ferromagnetic interaction between Fe 3+ and Fe 4+ ions [5,35].…”
