Methodology Research on Refraction Stack Imaging of Refractive Seismic Recording

Abstract: Multi‐fold refractive seismic exploration is such a method that is generally used to trace the geological structural interfaces when the reflected seismic section is not good or used to trace the base structural configuration and to study the base interface. This paper will discuss the theory and method of imaging underground refractors with the refractied seismic waves in the refractied seismic data, based on the refraction theory. The method was called common depth refraction segments stack imaging method. T… Show more

“…Hall [11] explained non-converted and converted refracted waves, and briefly described the propagation kinematics characters. Most studies in recent decades on refracted wave have focused on non-converted refracted wave (PPP and SSS refracted wave) [12][13][14][15][16][17] , with little work on…”

Most studies in recent decades on refracted wave have focused on non-converted refracted wave (PPP and SSS refracted wave) [12][13][14][15][16][17] , with little work on converted refracted wave. This paper analyzes propagation characteristics of converted refracted wave based on converted refracted wave propagation theory, develops S-wave static correction method based on converted refracted wave, and processes the real converted wave data with better results of static.…”

“…Geophysicists in the former Soviet Union put forward the method and applied it. Feng Tailin made a thorough research on the method of seismogram stack and imaging by the refracted waves in 2001 [4,5] . Normal moveout correction is done on common-midpoint gathers, and the data of various traces is stacked horizontally.…”

“…There are three ways to perform wide angle seismic survey. The first is to use refraction survey to determine structures of the top and base of high velocity layers as well as the velocity of the base [11,12] . The second is to use wide angle reflection to bypass the interference existing in near offsets, making the images of once smeared areas clear.…”
