It is difficult to explore in the high velocity basalt shield area. The methods of the wide-angle seismic technology are put forward to solve the problems taking a distinguish area of our country as an example. At first, the condition that the wide angle seismic signal exists and problems faced in applications have been discussed by the theory. The kinetic characteristics of the wide angle seismic signal and the effect of noise on the wide angle reflection have been analyzed by the forward theoretical model. The phenomena of the correction stretch and the characteristics of the dynamics and the wave field have been discussed in this paper. The wide angle seismic data has been processed exactly and the sub basalt seismic imaging has been achieved based on these methods.Key words Wide angle seismic, High velocity basalt shield layer, Wave field analysis, Wide angle seismic imaging.
