Methodology of risk assessment and forms of environmental safety management for the transport of dangerous goods by railway transport

Abstract: The authors examined the scientific basis for managing environmental and economic risks in the transport of dangerous goods by rail. The importance of optimizing the monitoring of environmental safety and the organization of environmental risk management was noted. The paper presents the interrelation of the functional strategy of ensuring the reliability of the transportation process with other strategies. A new functional strategy and a schematic diagram of the environmental management system for making mana… Show more

“…The basis of forest plantations comprised of forest species with the relevant forms of trunk with a well-developed crowns which, according to their bio-ecological features, are relevant to the habitat conditions. It is vital to consider that protective forest plantations of railways near populated areas belong to the green zone (Skrúcaný et al, 2018;Sun et al, 2020;Zaporozhets et al, 2017;Zelenko et al, 2019).…”

“…The evergreen shrub Calluna vulgaris (L.) Hill is the most resistant to the effects of radiation and the herbaceous plant Carex pilosa Scop., in which a significant part of the plant is placed underground and forms fastgrowing and root ed shoots after the cessation of radiation. More effective in this regard is the herb Panicum sanguinale L., which forms thick thickets under continuous radiation exposure with an absorbed dose power of more than 10 Gy/day [13].…”

“…In terms of risk assessment of rail freight transport system, some researchers take the railway freight system as the object based on statistical data, mostly focus on rail transport of hazardous material [9][10][11][12]. Turla Tejashree et al [6] proposed two alternative risk measures, namely the expected consequence and conditional value at risk were used to evaluate the freight train collision risk on main tracks, accounting for both the average and worst-case scenarios.…”

“…A breakdown of studies of reliability and safety of the railway transport system in four areas is presented. Zelenko Yuliia et al [9] presented the interrelation of the functional strategy of ensuring the reliability of the transportation process with other strategies, proposed a new functional strategy and a schematic diagram of the environmental management system for making management decisions to optimize environmental management in railway transport. Kang Di et al [10] proposed five illustrative scenarios used to analyze the best or worst cases and compare the transportation risk differences between service options using unit trains and manifest trains.…”
