Methodology for the Design of Traceability System in Food Assistance Supply Chains

Abstract: The food assistance programmes (FAP) has the mission to guarantee minimum nutrition requirements in a vulnerable population. Nevertheless, the small deliveries for a spread population, the social conditions, and the limited technological infrastructure could make it difficult to adequately aid supply. To solve these limitations, this chapter proposes a methodology for the design of traceability systems in FAP which allows increasing supply chain visibility, coordination between deliveries and social conditions… Show more

“…The lack of real demand data indicates the incapability of the current system to recognize the target population and, thus, its impacts over nutrition indicators in the country. This weakness could be partially solved through the design of tracking and traceability systems (Rueda-Velasco et al, 2019).…”

“…The efficiency of the supply chain is affected due to the lack of information exchange and tracking (Gonzalez-Feliu et al, 2018). To overcome this traceability, supply chain digitization can play a significant role (Rueda-Velasco et al, 2019). Thus, today's customer-driven industry needs a robust traceability system that ensures customer trust and loyalty to the product quality (Kittipanya-Ngam and Tan, 2020).…”
