“…It has been undertaken in the frame of a global approach dealing with the feasibility of a geographic identification and recognition of the origin of olive oil (Janin et al, 2014;Medini et al, 2015). The feasibility of Sr isotope measurements in oil was demonstrated by Medini et al (2015), however a better knowledge of the Sr bio-geochemical cycle during olive trees growth is now expected to consolidate the authentification of olive oil by strontium isotopic tracing. The Sr isotope composition of various parts of olive trees (Olea europaea) such as the branches, leaves and olives from two different parcels was compared to those of the interfering environmental components such as the soils, surface water, rainwater.…”

“…Their isotopic ratios are inherited by the geological substratum of the territory of production. Another recent work describes authentication of PDO Nîmes (France) olive oil by 87 Sr/ 86 Sr ratios and methodology development for Sr extraction from olive oils [316]. For example, distinction of wines geographic provenance is achieved by 87 Sr/ 86 Sr ratios [314].…”
