As mobile devices become more efficient, we will be using them to accomplish our daily tasks and even to handle emergency situations. One application that falls into this category is this Application developed for the Android Phones. The prime objective of this application is to create a full-fledged android application which could locate a list of nearest hospitals and police stations based and also can map the path [8] from the location to the respective nearest hospitals from the current location and helps the user to notify the hospitals regarding the emergency and police station regarding the crimes as well as the accidents. The user not only finds all the hospitals and police stations in the city, but also can collect evidence in case of nuisance.

The objective of this work is to provide brief review on the technologies proposed to predict the collision between vehicles, before the collision happens itself and smart activation of safety systems like air bag deployment, seat belt tightening etc. This paper also cover the review on the accident notification schemes proposed once the accident is predicted. At the later part of this paper, an ideal model for the accident prediction and notification system schematic is given. Most of the existing sensor system for automotive adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance uses the radar and laser technology for operation. The main disadvantage of those system is that it will work only if the inter space between vehicles is greater than 1 m. This traditional sensor system is not up to detect the possibility of collision when inter vehicle spacing is small. We cannot actually relay on the collision detection mechanism which is based on sensing at larger distances. Hence in automotive industry, research on a system which can predict the imminent collision just before the collision occurs has a great consideration and the sensor system development mainly concentrates on the relative velocity measurement of the vehicles. Anisotropic magneto-resistive (AMR) and sonar/ultrasonic sensors are adopted for development of the proposed sensor system. AMR sensors are used to measure the magnetic field and to get the relative position of vehicles. The main aim of the object is to develop a unique sensor system which can be used to estimate the planer position and orientation of vehicles to avoid vehicle collision by effectively predicting the possibility for collision. Once the accident is predicted, the camera system embedded in the vehicle will get activated and will capture snaps to gather information of the vehicles near to the host vehicle. Once accident happens intimation in the form of alert message including accident location long with the snap information will be send to nearby hospitals or police station using GSM module.

GPS (Global Positioning System) has become an integral part of a vehicle system which provides speed, time, direction etc besides the navigation data. Speed is one of the primary attributes of vehicle accident. Many lives could have been saved if emergency service could receive accident information timely. This paper proposes to detect an accident from the map matched position of a vehicle by utilizing the GPS speed data and map matching algorithm and send accident location to an Alert Service Center. The GPS provides speed and position in every 0.1 second. The position data will be used in the map matching algorithm to locate the vehicle on the road. The present speed will be compared with the previous speed in every 0.1 second through a Microcontroller Unit. Whenever the speed will be falling below the safe calculated threshold speed, the system will generate an accident situation. It will check the vehicle location from map matching module and generate an accident situation if the vehicle is found outside the road network. This will reduce the false accident detection drastically. The map matched accident location is then sent by utilizing the GSM network. The proposed system will save many accident victims with timely rescue.
