Pu rp ose -Teachers ' work attitudes play an ess ential ro le in raising and ed ucating future generatio ns. This study aimed to investigate the effect of teachers' calling on job performance and organizational commitment and the mediating role of work-related flow experience on this effect.Design/methodology/approach-The data was collected throughproper surveys received from 377 teachers in Adana. The appropriate data's frequency analysis and factor analysis were done with SPSS 24.0 and SmartPLS 3.3.9 programs, respectively. The Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) method was used to determine the path coefficients (hypotheses) and the mediating role of the model created at the second level. Findings-The results have shown that calling positively affects job performance, work-related flow experience, and organizational commitment. The work-related flow experience positively affects job performance and organizational commitment. While the partial mediating role of work-related flow experience in the relationship between calling and job performance was affirmed, the mediating role of work-related flowexperience in the relationship between calling and organizational commitment could not be confirmed.Discussion–Teachers with positive attitudes and behaviors towards their profession have trained qualified human resources in the educational system. Teachers who have a calling sense could experience work-related flow experience under suitable conditions, and this could positively affect both their job performance and organizational commitment. Therefore, a supportive environment with managerial and peer support should be created in schools for teachers to find their work more meaningful and increase their calling and work-related flow experiences.

For these reasons, a Turkish adaptation ( Uzunbacak et al, 2019 ) of the Brief Calling Scale (BCS; Dik et al, 2012 ) translated the term ‘calling’ as ‘love’ one experiences toward one’s job. Changes in Nurses’ Sense of Calling During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Qualitative Study

This study investigated changes in nurses’ sense of calling during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as possible reasons for these changes. A total of 440 nurses in Turkey responded to a single open-ended question about their work attitudes and experiences. Emergent Qualitative Document Analysis (QDA) was used to analyze the responses. Results demonstrated that nurses experienced both positive and negative changes to their sense of calling, sometimes simultaneously. The most frequently cited reasons for positive changes were nurses’ perceived job significance, their desire to serve humanity, and a sense of meaningful work. In contrast, terms describing their reasons for experiencing negative changes include exhaustion, underpaid, unappreciated, overwork, disengagement, risky, stress, and anxiety. This study provides the first evidence on how a sense of calling experienced by Turkish nurses has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Implications for theory, research, and practice are explored.

İşin anlamlılığı kavramı, farklı disiplinlerden farklı perspektifleri içeren çok bileşenli ve kapsayıcı bir yapı görüntüsü vermektedir. Araştırma alanlarının çeşitliliği nedeniyle kavramla ilgili tartışmaların karışık bir görünüm sergilediği ve tutarlı bir bütünün henüz oluşmadığı anlaşılmaktadır. Alanyazında kavramın tanımlanışı, nedenleri, kaynakları ve sonuçlarına dair ayrıntılı bir tartışma raporlanmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Bu durum, işin anlamlılığı yazınını bütün olarak açıklama ve araştırılmasında güçlükler yaratabilmektedir. Bu çalışma kapsamında Rosso ve diğerlerinin (2010) geliştirdiği çerçeve temel alınmış, işin anlamlılığı tutarlı bir bütünlük içinde açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. İşin anlamlılığının bir çatı kavram olarak ele alındığı ve olası kaynak ve mekanizmalarıyla irdelendiği bu çalışmanın, ilgili araştırmalara teorik bir perspektif sunabileceği düşünülmektedir. Alanyazındaki tartışmalardan hareketle araştırmacılara ve uygulamacılara bazı önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
