RESUMO -Procurou-se conhecer a flora de importância polinífera para Apis mellifera (L.) na região de Viçosa, MG, em período de entressafra de mel, entre agosto e dezembro de 2005. O experimento foi realizado em dois apiários distintos, cada um com cinco colmeias. As cargas retidas nos coletores de pólen instalados nas colmeias foram analisadas quanto à origem botânica. As plantas em floração no entorno dos apiários foram coletadas e identificadas. A maioria das plantas de importância polinífera para abelhas na região de Viçosa era nativa, localizada em jardins e com hábito arbóreo. Pela análise palinológica, verificou-se que espécies como Anadenanthera colubrina, Arecaceae sp., Baccharis dracunculifolia, B. melastomaefolia, Coffea spp., Emilia sagittata, Eugenia uniflora, Mikania cordifolia, M. hirsutissima, Myrcia fallax, Psidium guajava, Vernonia condensata, V. diffusa, V. lanuginosa e V. mariana são potenciais recursos poliníferos a serem utilizados no período de entressafra do mel. Os resultados indicaram a importância de plantas localizadas em áreas abertas para o forrageamento de pólen por A. mellifera e confirmaram o potencial polinífero da região estudada, durante o período de entressafra do mel.Palavras-chave: Abelha; Recurso proteico e Pólen apícola. This paper reviews current knowledge on the occurrence of several types of pollen grains in the sediments of honey samples, propolis and bee loads of Apiinae and Meliponinae in Brazil. After a short historical introduction about research activities in Melissopalynology using Brazilian samples, bee products were analyzed in respect to the greater Brazilian regions (South, Southeast, Northeast and North), emphasizing monofloral honeys and the green propolis. Numerous bibliographic references and a short glossary of the technical terms used is presented. Key words: honey pollen, propolis pollen, bee load pollen, analysis, Brazil MELISSOPALINOLOGIA NO BRASIL: UMA REVISÃO SOBRE ANÁLISES PALINOLÓGICAS DE MEL, PRÓPOLIS E BOLOTAS DE PÓLEN DE ABELHASRESUMO: Foram apresentados os conhecimentos atuais existentes sobre a ocorrência de tipos polínicos em sedimentos de amostras de mel e de própolis, bem como constantes de cargas corbiculares de abelhas Apiinae e Meliponinae no Brasil. Introduzidas por um breve histórico sobre pesquisas em Melissopalinologia realizadas com amostras brasileiras, foram analisadas amostras destes produtos apícolas segundo as grandes regiões brasileiras (Sul, Sudeste, Nordeste e Norte), salientando-se méis monoflorais e a própolis verde. Extensa bibliografia acompanha o levantamento de dados, bem como um glossário sobre termos técnicos usados.

The Brazilian Sac Brood is a disease that affects apiaries of Africanized bee hives in Brazil, thereby making them susceptible to high losses. This study investigated the pathogenicity of Africanized bee hives by the entomopathogenic fungi in a Brazilian Sac Brood endemic region. The degree of fungal contamination, presence of mycotoxins in beehive elements, and vulnerability of healthy beehives in environments subjected and not subjected to the disease were investigated. From the contaminating fungal load, species that are mycotoxin producers and pathogenic causing mortality in the bees have been isolated. The analysis of bee pollen and bee bread samples did not show the presence of the toxic pollen of Stryphnodendron (Fabaceae), which has been indicated as the causative agent of mortality in pre-pupal stage larvae.
