Mechanical and Damping Properties of Fullerene-Dispersed AZ91 Magnesium Alloy Composites Processed by a Powder Metallurgy Route

Abstract: The microstructures and mechanical properties of fullerene powder dispersed AZ91 magnesium alloy composites were examined. The AZ91 with 0, 1 and 5 mass% fullerene additions were produced by extruding a mixture of AZ91 machined chips and fullerene powder. The matrix grains of the extruded materials were equiaxed, and the size was $ 5 mm irrespective of the fullerene content. The agglomerated fullerene powder was aligned parallel to the extrusion direction in the composites. The addition of 1 mass% fullerene ha… Show more

“…Numerous researchers have tested the damping properties of various magnesium and magnesium alloy materials with different structures (such as porous structure) and have obtained a variety of performances related to damping. e examples also include the damping material for performance research such as vibration and frequency response [30][31][32][33][34][35]. e performance test data characteristics are essentially in line with the G-L dislocation pinning theory model.…”

“…Literatürde AZ91 alaşımlarının toz metalurjisi ile üretilmelerini konu edinen son derece sınırlı sayıda yayın bulunmaktadır [10][11][12][13]. AZ91 matrisli kompozitlerin üretilmesinde ise dökümde karşılaşılan sorunlar yüzünden toz metalurjisi yöntemlerinin sıklıkla kullanıldığı görülmektedir [14][15][16][17][18]. Mg ve alaşımlarının üretiminde toz metalürjisinin tercih edilmemesinin iki temel nedeni bulunmaktadır.…”
