Measurement of Top Quark Polarization in Top-Antitop Events from Proton-Proton Collisions ats=7TeVUsing the ATLAS Detector

Abstract: This Letter presents measurements of the polarization of the top quark in top-antitop quark pair events, using 4.7  fb(-1) of proton-proton collision data recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider at √s=7  TeV. Final states containing one or two isolated leptons (electrons or muons) and jets are considered. Two measurements of α(ℓ)P, the product of the leptonic spin-analyzing power and the top quark polarization, are performed assuming that the polarization is introduced by either a CP cons… Show more

“…Measurements of the polarization have been conducted for top pair production in pp collisions at the Large Hadron Collider at √ s = 7 TeV. These measurements, performed in different basis choices, are all consistent with the SM expectations [18,19].…”

“…The two largest systematic uncertainties are uncertainties on the top-quark mass and on the jet reconstruction. An ATLAS measurement of the top-quark polarisation [122] uses tt events decaying in the singlelepton and dilepton mode. The data were collected at √ s = 7 TeV and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 4.66 ± 0.08 fb −1 .…”
