The occurrence of coastal erosion in the coastal area of Karawang Regency has recently been thought to be a disaster, considering the condition is at an alarming status and is a lengthy problem. Hence, an integrated coastal rehabilitation effort is needed to address the impact of coastal erosion in the area effectively and efficiently. The purpose of this study is to develop an integrated management strategy for coastal rehabilitation for coastal erosion control in the coastal area of Karawang Regency by stressing solutions on socio-economic and institutional aspects. This study is a case study conducted through a survey method in the three coastal areas of Karawang Regency that were the most severely affected, namely Cibuaya Beach, Cilebar Beach, and Cilamaya Kulon Beach. Data were collected through observation techniques and in-depth interviews, strengthened by secondary data. Data analysis employed descriptively and decision-making methods of the Analytic Hierarchy Process. The study’s results recommend strategic priorities in managing coastal rehabilitation. Firstly, the coastal border area conservation strategy sets frontiers and rules for managing coastal borders following applicable laws and regulations. Secondly, the social reconciliation and law enforcement strategy facilitate and mediate conflict resolution through deliberation. Thirdly, the strengthening group capacity strategy promotes collaboration between groups of mangrove farmers and related groups to communicate knowledge and experiences. Fourthly, the community education strategy conducts socialization and public awareness of preserving the mangrove ecosystem.

Mangroves are crucial to fisheries as nurseries; they can be used as spawning and feeding grounds for fish, including Longtail Shad fish (Tenualosa macroura). The objective of the study was to analyze the mangrove vegetation used as Longtail Shad fish spawning ground. It was carried out from January to May 2021, using a checkered line method with six sampling stations. Each station was placed in three transects with three plots for each transect. Density, relative density, frequency, relative frequency, dominance, relative dominance, and importance value index were included in the vegetation analysis. There were 13 true mangrove types and 1 mangrove associate type at the study locations. The highest mangrove density was found at Station 3 with 3300.48 Ind/Ha, categorized as good. The highest mangrove coverage was found at Station 2, with an exceptionally dense category (76.34%). The regression analysis revealed a substantial relationship between density and mangrove and the water salinity at a 0.002 significance value (<0.05). Based on the gut content analysis in establishing the fish's eating habits, the type of food consumed by the Longtail Shad fish was mostly mangrove litter, representing 44.66% of the total stomach contents. The result of the study clearly shows that mangroves are crucial for Longtail Shad fish. A good mangrove ecosystem will provide good water quality for the migration process of longtail shad fish and produce mangrove litter as fish food. Mangrove ecosystem management can support the management of Terubuk fisheries.

Biodiversitas 22: 5585-5592. One of the potential natural resources of coastal areas in West Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia is the 501.9-ha mangrove ecosystem. The purpose of this study was to analyze the structure and composition of mangroves in the Lembar bay area. The study used field observation methods based on predetermined plots. The results showed that the composition of mangroves in the Lembar Bay area consisted of Avicennia alba Bl, Avicennia marina (Forsk) Vierh, Bruguiera cylindrica (L) Bl, Ceriop decandra (Griff) Ding Hou, Ceriop tagal (Perr) C.B. Rob, Lumnitzera littorea (Jack) Voight, Lumnitzera racemosa Willd. Var, Phemphis acidula, Rhizhopora stylosa Griff, Rhizophora apiculata Bl, Rhizophora mucronata Lmk, and Sonneratia alba J.E. Smith. The mangrove vegetation at tree level was composed of 12 species dominated by Rhizhopora stylosa Griff and Rhizophora mucronata Lmk, with Importance Value Index (IVI) of 56.05 and 48.89, respectively, at sapling level 9 species dominated by Rhizhopora stylosa Griff, Bruguiera cylindrica, and Rhizophora mucronata, with IVI of 47.46, 33.33, and 31.07 respectively, and at the seedling level 7 species dominated by Rhizhopora stylosa Griff and Rhizophora mucronata Lmk, with IVI of 47.71 and 37.76, respectively.
