Innovation has been discussed as a mechanism to help markets adapt to the consequences of climate change but the adoption of innovation is shaped by a set of formal and informal institutions, one of which is national culture norms. In this empirical study, we examine the impact of innovation on adaptive capacity to climate change then investigate how national culture norms enhance or weaken this relationship, using a database of 42 countries across the period of 2009-2020. We find that innovation has a positive effect on countries' adaptive capacity to climate change and the culture dimensions of Uncertainty Avoidance and Future Orientation moderate this relationship, such that countries scoring high on Uncertainty Avoidance and Future Orientation are better able to channel innovation into the adaptive capacity to climate change.Furthermore, while we found that Uncertainty Avoidance and Future Orientation had a direct positive impact on adaptive capacity, the dimension of institutional collectiveness had no significant impact. Implications for policy makers are discussed.

Age of Executives, Uncertainty Avoidance Culture and Corporate Social Responsibility Disclosure

Whether and how enterprises disclose social responsibility information is closely related to executives, and the individual characteristics of executives, as an important factor influencing executives' behavioural decisions, are also inextricably linked to CSR information disclosure. Based on the GLOBE culture model, this paper empirically examines the direct impact of executives' age on CSR information disclosure with the sample data of A-share listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen from 2010 to 2020, and finds that: the older the executives are, the higher the quality of CSR information disclosure is. We also introduced the informal system of uncertainty avoidance culture to empirically test the indirect effect of executive age on CSR disclosure under the influence of uncertainty avoidance culture, and found that: uncertainty avoidance culture plays a positive moderating role between executive age and CSR disclosure. Enterprises and countries should take regional cultural differences into account when formulating CSR disclosure strategies and adopt more locally adapted CSR disclosure initiatives.

Güç Mesafesinin Yenilikçi Davranışlar Üzerindeki Etkisinde İşgören Performansının Aracılık Rolü Üzerine Bir Araştırma

Bu çalışmada güç mesafesinin, işgörenlerin yenilikçi davranışları üzerindeki etkisinde işgören performansının aracılık etkisi araştırılmıştır. Araştırmada kullanılan verilere Antalya ilinde faaliyet gösteren 5 yıldızlı otellerde çalışan 411 işgörene uygulanan anketler vasıtasıyla ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmadaki değişkenler arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemek amacıyla kurulan hipotezler yapısal eşitlik modeli ile test edilmiştir. Bunun için AMOS 22 paket programı kullanılmış olup araştırmadaki diğer analizler SPSS paket programı kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarına göre otel işgörenlerinin algıladıkları güç mesafesinin performansları ve yenilikçi davranışları üzerinde negatif yönde bir etkisi olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. İşgörenlerin algıladıkları iş performanslarının ise yenilikçi davranışları üzerinde pozitif yönde anlamlı bir etkisi bulunmuştur. Aracılık etkisine bakıldığında ise otel çalışanlarının algıladıkları güç mesafesi ile sergiledikleri yenilikçi davranışlar arasında performanslarının aracılık etkisi olduğu görülmüştür. Güç mesafesi azaldıkça işgörenlerin sergileyecekleri yenilikçi davranışlar artacağı gibi işgörenlerin performanslarındaki bir artış da yenilikçi davranışları arttıracaktır. Çalışma modelinin hem turizm sektöründe hem de diğer hizmet sektörlerinde daha önce test edilmemesi nedeniyle alan yazına katkı sağladığı düşünülmektedir.
