Magnetic circular dichroism of zinc-blende-phase MnTe

Abstract: Synthesis. -Air-stable, solid, and polyfunctional aryl and heteroarylzinc pivalates are efficiently prepared by either magnesium insertion or Hal/Mg exchange followed by transmetalation with Zn(OPiv) 2. Alternative routes are the directed magnesiation using TMP-MgCl·LiCl followed by transmetalation with Zn(OPiv) 2 or, for very sensitive substrates, direct zincation by using TMP-ZnOPiv. These zinc reagents not only show excellent stability towards air, but they also undergo a broad range of reactions with elect… Show more

“…The x =1 limit of Cd 1-x MnxTe, namely, MnTe with the zinc-blende structure has been synthesized using MBE [17]. The Mn 3d states in MnTe appears to be localized, essentially the same as those in diluted Cd1-xMnxTe.…”

“…2(b) right). MCD is the difference of the absorption coefficients for two circularly polarized lights and is proportional to the energy derivative of the absorption coefficient [144] so that the MCD is the largest around the onset of the absorption. Accordingly, the MCD spectrum can identify the ferromagnetic origin because the ferromagnetic metal often shows a monotonous MCD spectrum [91].…”

“…This means that effects associated with AF-SG (antiferromagnetic-spin-glass) transition cannot be easily investigated in the bulk. Recent progress in growing techniques of diluted magnetic semiconduction (MBE) enabled fabrication of materials in the entire concentration range, i.e., up to x = 1.0 [4,10]. In this communication we report on the energy gap variation with the temperature in Cd1-xMnxTe epilayers with Mn concentration ranging from x = 0.6 to x = 1.0 (i.e.…”

“…The results are interpreted in the frames of the model predicting that the exchange contribution to the band edge shift is proportional to the product of the magnetic susceptibility and the temperature. 4,10].
