Gerhardtia yunnanensis (Agaricales, Lyophyllaceae), a new species from southwest China

Abstract: Gerhardtia yunnanensis is described as a new species from southwestern China. The species is characterized by its medium to large basidiomata with a yellow-brown to reddish brown pileus with a translucent-striate pale margin, weakly curved stipe, basidia with both cyanophilic and siderophilic reactions, basidiospore walls having a cyanophilic reaction, basidiospores with minute granular or verruculose ornamentation under SEM, narrowly clavate to irregular or curved clavate cheilocystidia and pleurocystidia, an… Show more

“…Other Gerhardtia species are morphologically distinct from G. venosolamellata ( Table 3 ). Gerhardtia borealis , G. cibaria , G. citrinolobata , G. foliicola , G. leucopaxilloides , G. suburens , and G. yunnanensis have denser lamellae ( Clémençon, 1968 ; Bigelow & Smith, 1969 ; Matheny et al, 2017 ; Endo et al, 2019 ; Mu et al, 2021 ). Gerhardtia foliicola , G. leucopaxilloides , and G. yunnanensis have distinct brownish pilei.…”

“…The sequences obtained in this study were checked and edited using Bioedit v7.0.9 (Hall, 1999 ) and aligned with those available in GenBank using Blastn. According to the Blastn results and outcomes of recent phylogenetic studies on Lyophyllaceae (Mešic and Tkalcec, 2009 ; Bellanger et al, 2015 ; Li et al, 2017 ; Matheny et al, 2017 ; Endo et al, 2019 , 2021 ; Mu et al, 2021 ), high-quality sequences were downloaded from GenBank databases. Alignments were, then, generated for each single ITS and nrLSU dataset using MAFFT v7.313 (Katoh and Standley, 2013 ).…”

“…The species of Lyophyllaceae are distributed all over the world [12,18,19]. Recently, many new species and new recorded species have also been reported in China [10,[15][16][17][20][21][22][23][24][25]. To date, only 14 Calocybe species have been reported in China: Calocybe aurantiaca X.D.…”
