<b>Sensitivity of aquatic organisms to ethanol and its potential use as bioindicators

Abstract: ABSTRACT. The aim of this research was to evaluate the feasibility for the use of the organisms Lemna minor, Azolla caroliniana, Hyphessobrycon eques, Pomacea canaliculata and Daphnia magna as exposure bioindicators for ethanol (lethal and effective concentration 50% -LC50(I)/EC50(I)). Thus, the following concentrations were used 5.

“…Regarding water quality parameters under experimental conditions or during production, there are reports of temperatures ranging from 20 °C (Santos et al, 2017) to 28.5 °C (Park et al, 2014), slightly acidic or even neutral pH (Carvalho & Del-Claro, 2004;Park et al, 2014;Silva et al, 2014;Berchielli-Morais et al, 2015;Silva et al, 2015;Marcon et al, 2016;Silva et al, 2016;Santos et al, 2017;Mansano et al, 2018;Miraldo & Pecora, 2017;Çelik & Cirik, 2019), and dissolved oxygen above 5.0 mg L -1 (Wang et al, 2006;Sotero-Santos et al, 2007;Pan et al, 2010;Carraschi et al, 2011;Pan et al, 2011;Aguinaga et al, 2014;Park et al, 2014;Silva et al, 2014;Berchielli-Morais et al, 2015;Silva et al, 2015;Marcon et al, 2016;Santos et al, 2017;Miraldo & Pecora, 2017). It should be noted that the conditions maintained in the experiments or in the cultivation of the species are similar to those observed in natural environments.…”

“…A importância da utilização de organismos da biota aquática como bioindicadores de contaminação ambiental é evidenciada em estudos com algas (FERREIRA et al, 2007), macrófitas aquáticas (SILVA et al, 2016), microcrustáceos (HAYASAKA et al, 2012;QI et al, 2013 ), protistas (MADONI, 2000;LÁNG;KOHIDAI, 2012) e peixes (WANG et al, 2015).…”
