LSWBVM: A Lightweight Security Without Using Batch Verification Method Scheme for a Vehicle Ad Hoc Network

Abstract: Recently, Vehicle Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) have been increasingly developed in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSs). However, VANETs are vulnerable to security issues because of the open-medium nature of Vehicle-To-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-To-Infrastructure (V2I) communication. Recently, many studies have proposed security schemes to address these issues. However, many of these schemes have massive computational overheads, especially in the process of batch verification method, which verifies multiple me… Show more

“…The RSU, therefore, generates the sub-master key inside the coverage area to be sent to all vehicles ( Zmezm et al, 2015 ). The execution time during message generation and verification, however, is high ( Al-Shareeda et al, 2020 ). Li et al (2018) a conditional anonymous authentication of the VSNs’ privacy was proposed, while the authors suggested the VSNs’ design goals.…”

“…Since the private key generator (PKG) has access to all users’ private keys in identity-based schemes, the main escrow problems will occur if PKG was compromised. Lightweight security was suggested without using a single verification batch verification system (LSWBVM) scheme to broadcast many safety messages while driving ( Al-Shareeda et al, 2020 ). However, because the verifying vehicle for signature authentication uses only a one-way hash feature, this system is vulnerable to various security threats, such as impersonation and alteration attacks.…”

“…As a promising technology of intelligent transportation system (ITS), the vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET) has gained more and more support from the government sector, and both academia and industry in nowadays [1]- [3]. The major objective of VANET technology is to enhance the driving environment and immediately raise driver's awareness of the road management [4].…”

“…safety warnings, location, speed, direction, weather reports and movement of the vehicle to the network in a period from 100 ms until 300 ms, whereas RSUs and TA can exchange messages utilizing a secure wired channel [5]. According to these messages, other vehicles can take critical measures to utilize alternate paths during travel for avoiding traffic accident and congestion [6].…”
