Longitudinal shear transmission of anchor channels into concrete—An experimental approach

Abstract: The paper presents an innovative method to determine anchor forces in anchor channels exposed to longitudinal shear loads. The channel's loadbearing behavior is experimentally investigated by fiber-optic techniques recording the longitudinal strains. For the first time these recordings uncover the inner flux of forces and enable to deduce the load distribution on the anchors. Before applying on anchor channels, the devices and components as well as its application are tested on a tension rod. Altogether 200 te… Show more

“…These anchor channel-channel bolt-systems can take up high tension loads (N in z-direction) and shear loads (V in x-and y-direction) by mechanical interlock, making the system very robust and even suitable to withstand explosive loads, seismic loads, and fatigue loads [18].…”

“…If such direct contact is avoided (cf. 39 ), the use of cyanoacrylate is the better choice due to its high stiffness and the associated accurate strain measurement. This knowledge can, therefore, be transferred analogously to steel component contexts.…”

“…Here, a measuring campaign is used employing fiber‐optic sensing (FOS). FOS allows a quasi‐continuous measurement—every millimeter—along the fiber 38,39 . Fibers are placed along the longitudinal direction to gain a fine discretization of temperature data in x direction (“structural level”).…”
