Logística Reversa de medicamentos: estrutura no varejo farmacêutico

Abstract

Medicamentos vencidos ou não utilizados oferecem riscos ambientais e à saúde pública quando descartados inadequadamente no lixo comum e no vaso sanitário ou pia. A logística reversa propõe restituir ao setor empresarial resíduos de medicamentos para destinação final ambientalmente segura. Este estudo objetivou descrever a estrutura para logística reversa disponibilizada ao público consumidor em drogarias. Foram pesquisadas quatro drogarias, cada uma pertencente a grandes redes do varejo farmacêutico do Brasil. As drogarias foram investigadas nas esferas: operacional, econômica, institucional e educacional. Verificou-se que ações de logística reversa de medicamentos são praticadas parcialmente, pois nem sempre atingem a totalidade de drogarias das redes. Existe carência de disponibilização de equipamentos para o descarte específico destes resíduos e de informações de educação ambiental para a população. O presente estudo possibilitou a reflexão sobre as potencialidades da logística reversa de medicamentos como contribuinte para a educação ambiental da população e para a preservação ambiental. Reverse logistics (RL) consists of returning drug waste to the business sector for environmentally safe disposal. The aim of this study was to describe the reverse logistics framework available to drugstore consumers. Four pharmacies were surveyed, each belonging to a large Brazilian retail pharmacy chain. The drugstores were investigated with regard to operational, economic, institutional, and educational issues. It was found that the RL activities for medications are carried out in part, but do not always cover all drugstores in the networks. There is a lack of both specific equipment for disposing this waste and information on environmental education for the population. This study contributes to thinking related to the potential for RL of medications as a tool for environmental education and environmental preservation.
