Localization of Moving Objects Based on RFID Tag Array and Laser Ranging Information

Abstract: RFID (radio-frequency identification) technology is rapidly emerging for the localization of moving objects and humans. Due to the blockage of radio signals by the human body, the localization accuracy achieved with a single tag is not satisfactory. This paper proposes a method based on an RFID tag array and laser ranging information to address the localization of live moving objects such as humans or animals. We equipped a human with a tag array and calculated the phase-based radial velocity of every tag. The… Show more

“…This is why indoor localization of pedestrians and objects is still an open problem. The current state of the art tries to solve these problems using advanced processing techniques, such as Kalman Filters [17][18][19] and Particle Filters [20][21][22]. However, these techniques still neglect the effect of human body shadowing.…”

“…Since the present smart tag was fabricated with an isotropic antenna, probing the RSSI with a more capable base station/multiple readers and integrating multiple tags to bands could potentially increase the read range and localization of the position in a more accurate manner. 53,54 It is noteworthy that the band's performance was not largely affected, even under continuous bending deformations, which is critical for wearable electronic applications. These merits stem from the choice of the conductive filler that is selectively sheathed with PVP.…”

“…In [31], Compare Bloom Filter concept is evolved which is responsible for data filtering in physical space dimension. Approximate Probability Synthesis Bloom Filter (PSBF) concept in [32] filters and removes the overlapped redundant data based on probabilistic occurrences. Time Interval Bloom Filter proposed by Chen et al in [33] takes into account the total number of timestamps in a total time period to evaluate and filter the redundant data.…”
