In addition, in the flocculus complex spikes are modulated by visual stimuli (Maekawa and Simpson, 1973;Simpson and Alley, 1974;Maekawa and Takeda, 1976;Akaike, 1985;Noda and Warabi, 1987) and simple spikes are modulated in relation to saccadic movements (Noda and Suzuki, 1979). If the gaze is not properly held, a visual error signal is generated and, through the inferior olive, may contribute to stabilize the gaze.…”
