It was in 2015 that the Blair edition featuring Blake's design first appeared in the Serbian language. Simultaneously, it was the first time in Serbia that Blake was approached solely as an artist, and not as a poet, i. e. not as the author of The Marriage of Heaven and Hell (1793) or Songs of Innocence and of Experience (1789)—works he was mainly recognised for there. The aim of this article is to bring the figure of William Blake the designer closer to the Serbian reader, and to set it apart from the previously dominant figure of Blake the poet, when it comes to his reception in that country. Our conclusions point towards Blake the designer acting as a constructive reader, deconstructing the meaning of Blair's poem which he designed, confirming the notion by Morris Eaves (1980) that Blake was his own sole audience. We also tend to examine the hitherto neglected relationships that exist between English Graveyard Poetry and the so‐called “Serbian Graveyard Poetry”.

This article aims to describe the historical development of comparative literature and its current issues. Comparative literature is a mandatory course in the Indonesian language and literature study program in most Indonesian universities. There are at least six books used as common references in teaching comparative literature in Indonesia. However, these books have not covered recent development in comparative literature, especially the emergence of Chinese school and some new directions within comparative literature. This literature review article collects references from selective authoritative sources on the internet to describe the historical development of comparative literature and its current issues. This article shows that the expansions in comparative literature are intricate with deconstruction and reconstruction of world literature, dialogue and the meeting between West and East, and the presence of the digital age. From the dialogue on world literature and West meeting East vice versa, the Chinese school has its foundation, whilst the presence of the digital age makes comparative literature have new things to explore and work on the usage of the different medium in an umbrella term, intermediality.

Concurrencée, dans le domaine critique, par des termes comme « transmédialité » et « intermédialité », ou bien abordée sous les angles de la reprise et de la réécriture qui mettent moins l’accent sur la notion de médium que sur le geste même de la répétition d’un même « univers », l’adaptation semble être devenu un horizon théorique du passé. Comme le souligne Sarah Cardwell (2018), à force d’inclure de multiples formes de reprises, les Adaptation studies en arrivent à se passer, paradoxalement, de l’adaptation, et à se trouver ainsi diluées dans un ensemble plus vaste, qu’on pourrait appeler Intertextual studies. Le présent article vise à montrer que la théorie de l’adaptation gagne à être articulée en lien avec ce qui nourrit, d’une manière générale, la culture populaire : la sérialité. Quelques exemples de séries télévisées contemporaines de type « néo-victorien » ainsi qu’un examen métacritique des catégories de « monde » et « univers » fictionnels montreront que le brouillage entre adaptation et intertextualité est aussi l’occasion de mettre en œuvre des approches théoriques de l’adaptation plus ouvertes, qui tiennent compte de l’expansion permanente des formes fictionnelles contemporaines.
