“…First, the results of this research addresses the inconsistencies in the existing empirical investigations into EO and business performance by confirming that EO positively influences short term financial return and long term business growth in creating and building value for hospitality firms (Kallmuenzer et al, 2019) validating that the EO theory is relevant for the hospitality industry. Previous research in EO in hospitality ( Oktavio et al, 2019 ; Vega-Vázquez et al, 2016 ) highlight that EO tend to display negative or insignificant influences on business performance. These findings are significant because they assert that if hospitality businesses experiment with alternative offers, are more creative, take risks and are receptive to exploring novel products and new customers, they are more likely to succeed.…”

“…Until very recent, entrepreneurial orientation (EO) remains to be an important phenomenon in strategic management and entrepreneurship research studies (Mullens, 2018;Wales et al, 2019). However, contrary to EO theory, some empirical findings confirm that EO and its dimensions tend to exhibit unexpected negative or insignificant effects on business performance (Krauss et al, 2005;Kropp et al, 2006;Lechner and Gudmundsson, 2014;Eijdenberg, 2016;Vega-Vázquez et al, 2016;Oktavio et al, 2019). Such unexpected results are possible because of the assumption that indicators of EO developed for Western business environments fit well in non-Western contexts.…”

“…This explains why EO-dimensions tend to play different roles in functional performances such as R&D, production, marketing and customer-related (Hughes and Morgan, 2007;Rezaei and Ortt, 2018). The one size fits all approach has led to some studies to contradictorily conclude that EO is not an important aspect in enhancing hotels' performance (Oktavio et al, 2019). In fact, such an approach retards knowledge advancements in a way that is academically cumulative and practically applicable (Miller, 2011).…”
