“…Arguing that effective skills of interpersonal communication skills are critical in the construction and expression of professional identities, solidarity and collaboration in the workplace, the study investigated the extent to which linguistic devices to express types of interpersonal meanings were present in textbooks for workplace English in the secondary curriculum. Findings revealed a ‘strong imbalance’ (Cheng, et al., 2019, p. 37) in the materials which potentially gave a false impression about when and where expressions of interpersonal meaning are used in workplace communication. The findings underscored the need for ESP teachers to be aware of the potential limitations of textbooks materials.…”
