Latent semantic analysis and cosine similarity for hadith search engine

Abstract: Search engine technology was used to find information as needed easily, quickly and efficiently, including in searching the information about the hadith which was a second guideline of life for muslim besides the Holy Qur'an. This study was aim to build a specialized search engine to find information about a complete and eleven hadith in Indonesian language. In this research, search engines worked by using latent semantic analysis (LSA) and cosine similarity based on the keywords entered. The LSA and cosine si… Show more

“…Vector B can be thought of as the input of vector A. IAI is the length of vector A, and IBI is the length of vector between IAI and B. Thus, to be more precise, |B|, |A| It is a cross product between |B| and α can be expressed as the bridge between vector A and vector B [21].…”

“…The system recall results showed an algorithm testing value of 81% for the level of success in finding back information with an average time of 2.24 seconds. The failure of the system to retrieve some information can be caused by the ability of the local server and the amount of data that is processed [31].…”

“…Cosine Similarity provides competitive results, as well as lower levels of complexity and faster load times compared to LSA [20]. As one of the popular methods to be applied to the calculation of document similarity, Cosine Similarity cannot be affected by the length or shortness of a document because the term value of each document is considered principal [21], [22]. Cosine Similarity has proven to be successful in conducting automatic essay assessments using N-Gram [23] and WordNet [24].…”
