The hope of reaching diverse and large target groups has motivated civic education practitioners to offer their content on social media. The question has therefore long ceased to be whether civic education should take place on the internet, but rather how civic education goals can be implemented digitally to foster civic literacy. At first glance, the possibility of reaching a broad audience in a short time seems tempting. At a second glance, social media reveals several challenges that can impair educational processes. The present paper discusses the following questions: What are the opportunities and pitfalls of civic education in social media? How can we ensure successful civic education in a digitalized world? In our article, we want to provide an interdisciplinary perspective on the topic by drawing among others from the literature in the fields of media psychology, communication studies, and education science. By integrating insights from various disciplines, our paper seeks to enrich the academic dialogue and to promote a nuanced understanding of the evolving dynamics of civic education in the digital realm. With its practical focus, our paper further aims to underscore the applicability of scientific research.

Perkembangan era revolusi indusri 4.0 menuntut dihasilkannya sumber daya manusia yang berkualitas tanpa mengesampingkan individu sebagai good citizen. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengembangkan dan mengetahui keefektifan media kartu remi Pancasila dalam meningkatkan kemampuan civic literacy siswa sekolah dasar. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan research and development (R&D) tipe ADDIE. Populasi dari penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas II SD Negeri Tambakaji 03 Kota Semarang yang berjumlah 64 siswa dengan sampel yaitu 32 siswa yang ditentukan melalui teknik cluster random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, skala, angket, dan tes. Data kelayakan media kartu remi pancasila dianalisis secara deskriptif dan kemampuan civic literacy siswa dianalisis menggunakan uji-t dependen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media Rensla dinilai sangat layak oleh ahli media dan materi dengan skor kelayakan sebesar 85 dan 88. Selain itu, media kartu Rensla juga efektif dalam meningkatkan civic literacy siswa yang dibuktikan melalui hasil uji-t dependen dengan p-value 0.000 < 0.05. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media kartu Rensla yang dikembangkan layak untuk digunakan dalam meningkatkan civic literacy siswa sekolah dasar.

Civil literacy is a concept that enables individuals to act with an awareness about their own rights and responsibilities; to become active in civil life; and to express individual knowledge about the state's management process. Civil literacy is one of the skills that individuals should acquire in learning about the development and change of society because it demonstrates the effectiveness of individuals who have a voice and who can influence the functioning and development of the state especially in democratic societies. The purpose of this research is to develop a valid and reliable Civil Literacy Scale to measure levels of civil literacy demonstrated by pre-service teachers. The participant sample for the research was determined by a convenience sampling method from prospective teachers studying in the Faculty of Education at a university in Turkey. Exploratory factor analysis occurred on 242 pre-service teachers while a test-retest operation was conducted on 50 pre-service teachers and confirmatory factor analysis was performed on 231 pre-service teachers. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, a 25-item Civil Literacy Scale emerged with a total variance value of 57.23%. The four-factor structure revealed by this analysis was confirmed by a confirmatory-factor analysis process. In the testre-test operation, the internal consistency coefficient was determined as .81 which is in accordance with the consistency of the scale between the first test and the re-test. According to Cronbach's Alpha reliability test (one of the reliability tests carried out for the overall and sub-dimensions of the scale) the overall scale of 25 items received a value of 0.92, which proved that the scale was highly reliable. In this context, it can be stated that a reliable and valid Civil Literacy Scale was obtained.
