The purpose of this study is to examine the scientific articles about digital citizenship in terms of bibliometric indicators. Case study method, one of the qualitative research methods, was applied in this present study. The scanning range of bibliometric data in the WoS database generated by Clarivate Analytics covers the period between 1975 and December, 2019. The bibliometric analysis technique was conducted in the study. The studies were searched by writing "digital citizenship" in the search engine of the WoS database. The analysis revealed that there were 144 studies related to the digital citizenship registered in the WoS database between 1975 and 2019. It is concluded in these records that education / training research is at the forefront. In the analysis, it was observed that the most common type of publication related to digital citizenship was the articles with the total number of 85 studies. Besides, it was determined that approximately 97% of the published articles were published in the last ten years. This rate indicates that the educational researches related to digital citizenship have increased in recent years.
Currently it's possible to reach any knowledge fast and immediately with the technological developments of the modern world; new global economies are shaped with economical developments; each social system undergoes changes with social innovations to compose new social interactions, and new modes of communication. Civil insights aren't on the previous locations, anda re in a change and development process. Thus, a new concept, insight, and fields of citizenship flourishes which has been based on new forms of belonging, new rights, and responsibilty sets,and has started a proper sector related with discussing new alternate concepts like European Citizenship, Cultural Citizenship, Global Citizenship, Digital Citizenship. We've focussed in our study on the concept " Global Citizenship". The "Global Citizenship Perception Scale" which was developed by Morais ve Ogden (2011) and which was adapted to Turkish by Şahin and Çermik (2014) was applied and examined. In addition, a Likert-type attitude scale developed by Tavşancıl and Keser (2002) on "Internet use" was utilized. This study aimed to relate and analyze the views of social studies preservice teachers on global citizenship and their Internet use. The analysis of the data was implemented using t-test, ANOVA and correlation analyses in the study. Data were analyzed using SPSS 17.0 software in the study.
The objective of the study is to scrutinize the attitudes of social studies preservice teachers towards scientific research. Study group (universe) consisted of 259 students attending Fırat University, Faculty of Education, Social Studies Teaching Department in 2014-2015 academic year fall semester. No sample was determined in the study since it was possible to reach all students. In the study conducted using the survey method, "Scale on Attitudes towards Scientific Research" developed by Korkmaz, Şahin and Yeşil (2011a) was used as data collection tool. Data on the personal information form were determined as gender, class level, and frequency of reading scientific publications in the field of social studies. Data were graded on a 5-item Likert-type scale between 1 and 5, where 5 was equal to "I completely agree" and the negative items were graded in a reverse order. The data were analyzed using SPSS 17 software. In the analysis, arithmetic mean, percentages and frequency distributions were utilized and the degree of influence of independent variables on pre-service teachers' opinions was determined by t-test and ANOVA where there was a homogenous distribution and by Kruskal-Wallis H, where there was not a normal distribution. The findings of the study demonstrated that the social studies pre-service teachers had generally a positive attitude towards scientific research. There were no significant differences between the four subdimensions of the scale based on gender and class level variables, however significant differences were observed on the positive attitude dimension of the scale based on the frequency of reading scientific publications in social studies field. © 2015AUJES. Thanks to digital literacy skills in Social Studies program, it is purposed to provide students with easy access to accurate and reliable information among complex information masses. Digital literacy skill not only provides accurate access to information, but also enables students to study on a legal level, in compliance with ethical rules. In addition, digital literacy makes it easier to use information accessed in daily life, to rearrange information, to generate new information, and to critically evaluate information. In this context, it is expected from a digital literate individual to acquire some knowledge and skills such as using cognitive skills at the highest level, using technological tools in a useful and effective way, accessing information and documents easily, and carrying out this through ethical rules. Social studies course, which plays a key role in providing students with digital literacy skills. In this sense, it contributes to critical and analytical thinking of students by equipping them with cognitive, affective, and social skills. The purpose of this study is to determine the opinions of teachers on digital literacy skills in social studies program. Research group consists of 50 Social Studies teachers working within Ministry of National Education in the provinces of Muş, Malatya, Elazığ, and Şanlıurfa in 2019-2020 academic year. The opinions of teachers were obtained through semi-structured interview form. The obtained data were analyzed by using qualitative data analysis technique. As a result of this study, it was concluded that social studies teachers have different perceptions of digital literacy skills, and some recommendations were provided in the light of findings.
