Keratoacanthoma-like Cutaneous Metastasis of Lung Cancer: a Learning Point

Abstract: 459solitary finding, with no association with neurological and ophthalmological disease and the latter may be assoeiated with mental retardation, epilepsy and other brain or ophthalmologic abnormalities (1-4). Secondary CVG may appear at any age, skin folds are usually asymmetric and histology reveals various alterations depending on underlying causes such as tumours, nctirofibromas, cerebriform intradermal nevi and inflammatory conditions. Systetnic disorders associated with seeondary CVG include acromegaly, … Show more

“…Cutaneous metastases of internal malignancies with keratoacanthoma like morphology are extremely rare [14], with fewer than 20 cases reported until now [12]. Lung, larynx, breast, esophagus, bronchus and renal cancer, mesothelioma, angiosarcoma, chondrosarcoma, anaplastic large cell lymphoma, and malignant melanoma are the primary malignancies accounting for the majority of these reports [12][13][14]19]. In the reported cases, keratoacanthoma-like cutaneous metastases tend to have a biologic behavior and appearance similar to that of an idiopathic keratoacanthoma: a solitary, asymptomatic, rapidly growing, firm, dome-shaped nodule with a central keratin-filled crater that grows rapidly in 4-to-6 weeks and spontaneously involutes within 6 months [15].…”

“…Es existieren insgesamt weniger als zehn veröffentlichte Fallberichte über Keratoakanthom-ähnliche Hautmetastasen [5,6]. Die Lunge ist das innere Organ, das am ehesten mit dieser Form der Hautmetastasen in Verbindung gebracht wird, die vor allem an der Lippe auftreten [7].…”
