Justice for Health Consumers and Providers

Results of investigations concerning the chromatography of bromides of (E)-N-mand p-nitrobenzyl-4 0 -hydroxy-3 0 -methoxystilbazoles-4 are presented. Analyzed compounds, similarly to other azastilbene halogenides show antimicrobial activity. Optimal conditions of chromatographic separation and determination of two mentioned isomers have been elaborated. In the investigation three stationary phases (octadecyl, octyl, and naphthylpropyl), two mobile phases (acetonitrile, dichloromethane) and various flow were considered. The best selectivity and the highest separation factor, a ¼ 1.74, were obtained using a naphthylpropyl column and 100% acetonitrile, as the mobile phase. An application of an octadecyl phase, recommended by numerous analysts as standard, allowed only the observation of an existence of two compounds, but did not yield satisfactory results.

Cancer is a common disease in Western society that can affect any organ system. It has a high morbidity and mortality despite advances in treatment over the last hundred years. There is a clear need for new approaches to cancer chemotherapy including the possibility of reducing systemic adverse effects associated with current treatments. Vesicle trafficking is an essential cellular process that is perhaps not fully recognized. There is mounting evidence that vesicle trafficking, including the release of extracellular microvesicles, is a highly important process in tumorigenesis. Diverse aspects of tumourigenesis including invasion, metastasis, cell cycle regulation, angiogenesis, tumor immune privilege, neoplastic coagulopathy and multidrug resistance can be explained by altered vesicle trafficking in cancer cells. This paper reviews the evidence in the scientific and patent literature for the role of vesicle trafficking in tumourigenesis and suggests a number of targets and strategies that may be important for cancer therapeutics.

Адекватное описание явлений при передаче тепла является чрезвычайно важной задачей для энергетической отрасли как в теоретическом плане, так и с позиций практического использования тепловых процессов. Классический подход к моделированию передачи тепла в сплошной среде предполагает использование уравнений теплопроводности, в которых теплофизические характеристики материалов обычно являются константами. В ряде случаев это является грубым допущением, особенно при рассмотрении процессов горения твердых тел. Учет влияния температуры на характеристики материалов приводит к необходимости исследовать нелинейные уравнения, что вызывает значительные вычислительные сложности. В этой связи становится целесообразным использовать принципиально иные подходы к моделированию теплопроводности, одним из которых являются модели на основе систем клеточных автоматов. Материалы и методы: Использованы дискретные динамические модели в виде систем детерминированных клеточных автоматов. При этом сплошная среда рассматривается как совокупность взаимодействующих элементов, поведение которых полностью описывается локальными функциями. Результаты: Рассмотрены примеры использования систем клеточных автоматов для моделирования нелинейных процессов переноса тепла с учетом наличия в материале объемных источников переменной мощности. Показаны преимущества дискретного подхода в сравнении с параболическими дифференциальными уравнениями в частных производных с нелинейными коэффициентами. Выводы: Полученные данные дискретного моделирования хорошо согласуются с результатами использования классического подхода и не противоречат общепринятым в теории тепловых явлений взглядам. Ключевые слова: клеточные автоматы, теплопередача, нелинейные задачи теплопроводности, объемные источники тепла, дискретное моделирование.
