Josafat Kuncevyč

Abstract: Der um 1580 geborene Josafat Kuncevyč provozierte als Erzbischof von Polack durch seinen Kampf für die Durchsetzung der Union von Brest 1596 in den nördlichen Gebieten des Großfürstentums Litauen scharfe konfessionelle Auseinandersetzungen, in deren Ve rlauf er 1623 getötet wurde. Nach seinem Todwurde er zu einem der bedeutendsten Kristallisierungspunkte der Festigung einer unierten, gewissermaßen landeskirchlichen Identität im Rahmen des polnisch-litauischen Staates, zu dessen Schutzheiligen er gerechnet wurd… Show more
