Is Social Capital Associated with Academic Achievement in Lithuanian High-school Students? A Population-based Study

Abstract: Th e present study aims to determine the associations between family, neighbourhood, and school social capital with academic achievement among Lithuanian high-school students. Th e study included 1854 high-school students (901 males and 953 females) aged 16-18 years. At the end of the school year, the students' achievements were measured as an average grade. “…The results also point out the emergent importance of the relationship with teachers in the context of distance learning, given that the results of the previous study in the same country, before the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2018, did not highlight vertical trust, which reflects trust in teachers, as an important predictor of academic achievement.
