“…The Bragg distance was calculated and is also listed in Table . The Bragg distance for the crosslinked membrane is in good agreement with the interionic spacing for the membrane previously reported by a number of authors . The similar Bragg distance of the unirradiated SPEEK membrane and irradiated SPEEK membrane indicates that the morphology of SPEEK was not significantly changed by the EB‐absorbed dose.…”

“…It has various advantages such as excellent chemical stability, mechanical properties, and high proton conductivity. 8 However, the membrane also has many disadvantages, for example, high production costs, high methanol crossover, and decreased proton conductivity at temperatures above 80 C. 6,[9][10][11][12][13] Therefore, as an alternative to Nafion, many research groups have focused on aromatic hydrocarbon based ion-exchange membranes, such as sulfonated polyimide, 14 sulfonated polyphosphazene, 15,16 sulfonated poly(arylene ether), 17,18 and sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone), [19][20][21] which have high-temperature stability, low methanol permeability, environmental compatibility, and low cost. In particular, sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) has been considered a good candidate because it has excellent thermal, chemical, and mechanical properties and the proton conductivity can be easily controlled by the sulfonation conditions, such as the reaction time, temperature, and sulfonic acid con-tent.…”

“…Figure 3 shows the profiles obtained for the copolymer precursor and the sulfonated polymers F60 and S3, obtained under nitrogen and air atmospheres. As observed by Song et al, 43 the sulfonated polymers F60 and S3 start the decomposition process at lower temperature (ca 100 ∘ C) when compared with the copolymer precursor (ca 150 ∘ C), in both atmospheres (Fig. 3).…”

“…Este comportamento estaria de acordo com o surgimento de uma transição intermediária entre as T g s das fases sulfonadas e sem modificação. Resultado similar foi relatado recentemente por Song et al [17] em amostras com pequenas diferenças de teor de sulfonação de poli(éter-éter-cetona) (PEEK).…”
