Invitro Bioactivity and Osteogenic Activity Study of Solid State Synthesized Nano‐Hydroxyapatite using Recycled Eggshell Bio–waste

Abstract: Research on hydroxyapatite is experiencing a remarkable increase during the recent years due to its potential biological and biomedical applications. Herein, we have synthesized nano‐hydroxyapatite (HAp) by solid state reaction (SSR), wherein recycled eggshell bio‐waste as Ca precursor on processing is reacted with synthetic ammonium dihydrogen orthophosphate to form hydroxyapatite (SSHAp). The solid state synthesis reaction is studied by thermogravimetric analysis. The morphology and crystal structure of SSHA… Show more

“…OC and OP are osteoblast‐specific marker genes . OC is a major noncollagenous protein component of the bone extracellular matrix (ECM) which considered as a relatively late marker of osteoblast differentiation related to mineralization produced by both osteoblasts and osteoclasts.…”

“…In recent years, significant research effort has been devoted in developing the preparation and morphology control methods of HAp. HAp with various morphologies have been synthesized by means of solid‐state reaction, sol–gel method, template‐directed method, hydrothermal method, and microemulsion, or emulsion technique . Indeed, morphology and properties depend strongly on the synthesis approach and conditions used.…”

“…They are commonly used as bone grafts, illers and as coatings for metal implants. They are characterised for bone tissue engineering due to the properties such as biocompatibility, bioactivity and other mechanical properties without getting rejected by the immune systems (Ingole et al, 2016).…”

“…The preparation of CaO from the eggshell and its further conversion into Ca(OH) 2 , used as a calcium precursor for the preparation of the HA, was presented in our previous work [68]; the detailed preparation protocol was given in Supplementary Materials. TEMPO-mediated oxidation of the CNF was performed as previously reported elsewhere [40,69]; the detailed procedure was given in Supplementary Materials. In order to prepare the HA-TCNF/CNC nanocomposites with a varying TCNF/CNC composition, the prepared solutions of the precursors were mixed with 10, 20, 30, and 40 wt % of the TCNF and CNC suspensions, respectively, followed by their ultrasonication for 10 min to form homogeneous dispersions.…”
